Hattusas Tour

Early morning pick up from your hotel in Istanbul then take a flight to either Ankara or Kayseri. Upon arrival you will be met at the airport then we drive to the Hittite capital of Hattusas. You may also join to our Daily Hattusas Tour from Cappadocia. After driving two and a half hours, we arrive in Hattusas.

The Hittites were the first true empire in Anatolian area, and is mentioned in texts from other empires outside the area and in the Bible. The Hittite military made successful use of chariots, and although belonging to the Bronze Age, the Hittites were the precursors of the Iron Age and developed the manufacture of iron artifacts from as early on as the 18th century BC.

Hittite women had part in the Hittite assembly of “Pankush” and the wife of the king had the authority to rule the country when he was away. Hittite women had the right to divorce their husband, had rights on his will, and over their children, and were treated as nearly equal with men.

Before visiting the main capital of Hattusas, we visit Yazilikaya. This Antique City was located as two open-air temples and between natural rocks which is 3 km to Hattusa and outside of 7 km city wall. We will have lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch we visit the archaeological site of Hattusas, former capital of the Hittite Empire which is notable for its urban organization, the types of construction that have been preserved (temples, royal residences, fortified walls), the rich decoration of the Lions’ Gate and the Royal Gate and Tunnel. After a full day guided tour of Hittite Heritage in Turkey we transfer you to airport for your flight to Istanbul, arrival and transfer to your hotel. If you are joining to our Daily Hattusas tour from Cappadocia then we transfer you back to your hotel in Cappadocia.
