6 Days Black Sea Tour from Istanbul

Day 1: Istanbul to Trabzon

We will pick you up from your hotel in Istanbul and transfer to the airport for a flight to Trabzon, you will be met at the airport by the driver and transfer to your hotel in Trabzon, free day at leisure to discover the town and overnight in Trabzon.

Day 2: Ayder Tour ( B / L )

We pick you up from your hotel at about 09:00am, the first stop on the tour will be Surmene; famous for its handcrafted knives. Next, we will see how fabrics are woven on a traditional loom and we will visit the tea groves at Ziraat Botanic Garden in Rize.

After stopping for a tea break near the historical old Ottoman Stone Bridge in Storm Valley, we continue to the stunning waterfalls situated at the summit of the Ayder plateau. Enjoy your lunch followed by free time to discover the Ayder highland. Relax and breath in the forest smells and take in the sights – traditionally dressed village ladies, thermal springs, waterfalls dropping down from hundreds metres and beautiful plateau houses. At the end of the day drive back to Trabzon while enjoying the impressive combination of the nature, forest and Black Sea, arrival and transfer to your hotel in Trabzon.

Day 3: Sumela Monastery & Karaca Cave Tour   ( B / L )

We pick you up from your hotel at about 09:00am then depart for Sumela Monastery which is about 47 km away from Trabzon. Seeming to cling to a sheer rock face high above steep and heavily wooded slopes, the monastery was founded in the 6th century to house an icon of the Virgin Mary, supposedly painted by St. Luke the Evangelist. The monastery was inhabited by Greek Orthodox monks until 1923 when the Greeks were expelled from Turkey in an exchange of populations. The monastery still contains many frescoes of Biblical scenes.

After visiting the Monastery then we will drive to Karaca Cave which has many wonderful stalactites and stalacmites, columns, walls having some figures, travertines and cave plants.

After visiting the caves, we will have a lunch at a local restaurant then drive back to Trabzon and overnight.

Day 4: Uzungol Tour ( B / L )

We pick you up from your hotel at about 10:00am and drive to Uzungol , we will be visiting a horse farm and tea factory on our way to Uzungol. Uzungol is a hidden paradise in the Pontic Alps. It was declared a Nature Park due to its rich flora, stunning wild life and outstanding natural beauty. Everywhere is covered with spruce trees, an impressive array of wildlife exists with species such as roe deer, wild boar, bear, badger, lynx, birds of prey, and trout as well as various kinds of reptiles.

We will have our lunch at a local restaurant and you will have some free time to explore on your own.

End of the tour drive back to your hotel in Trabzon.

Day 5: Trabzon ( B )

Breakfast at your hotel then free day on your own, you may discover the city centre of Trabzon, walk by the seaside and do some shopping. Taste the delicious local foods and overnight in Trabzon.

Day 6: Trabzon to Istanbul ( B )

Breakfast at your hotel then transfer to airport for a flight to Istanbul, arrival and transfer to your hotel in Istanbul.
